| So i have been trying to locate the source of my oil leak and i finally got to pull of the VTC gears to check if they were good or not. With quite a bit of force while holding the lip on the back plate i was able to spin it independently of the gear itself, so that does mean they are finished right? Its weird though cause they look relatively new compared to other gears on the car. I was reading a post the other day about someone wanting to weld their VTC gears instead of replacing them. I can't find that post again and i can't find any other opinions on the subject. Does anyone know if it is possible? And will it affect performance? Also when i took out the VTC gears, there was a puddle of oil on the bottom of the cam seal, would the leak from the gears be getting there or can it be the seals? The seals are brand new (like less than 1000miles) and i would like not to replace them again if its not necessary. Thanks in advance
